Wildfires scorched over 3 million acres of the Pantanal in 2024— the world’s largest tropical wetland, spanning Brazil, Bolivia, and Paraguay — devastating three wildlife reserves, destroying rewilding enclosures, and killing or injuring countless animals. This included jaguars, which are classified as Near Threatened and make up nearly half the global population in Brazil. We partnered with on-the-ground teams to rescue burned and injured wildlife and provide urgent veterinary care, with ongoing support aimed at wildlife rehabilitation and restoring the destroyed habitats.
