When the coronavirus pandemic brought global travel to a halt in 2020, the animals that depended on tourism-funded sanctuaries didn’t stop needing care. At Elephant Nature Park in Thailand, more than 3,000 animals, including 87 elephants, faced an uncertain future as visitor revenue disappeared overnight. We provided critical funding to keep the herd nourished and safe during an unprecedented crisis. The impact rippled outward quickly with support extended to 817 elephants across 60 camps throughout Thailand, opening the door to conversations about more ethical care models across the region.
